As you know our fantastic swim coach Alex Parent is
one of the Hamilton Community Torchbearers for the 2015 Pan Am Games Torch
Relay.
We want to have a gathering of LOTS of our club
members, families & friends to cheer him on so spread the word in Ancaster and come out on Sunday to see the torch
arrive!
The schedule is set for him to carry the torch in
Ancaster from 241 Wilson Street (approx at Bick Financial building at Halson
& Wilson) to the Town Hall at approximately 3:00 pm on Sunday June 21.
This is a short but sweet route and I am suggesting
that we gather as a group to watch and encourage him as he proudly carries the
torch.
Meet on the
steps of the Ancaster Library at 2:30 pm so we can assemble at our designated
location (TBA). I will have our club banner; look for us in case our
location changes but the route is short so we should be easy to find. Parking might be busy; perhaps the St John's
Church parking lot on Halson St. or the Ryerson Church parking lot on Wilson
St. would be available.
Please bring your camera and if you have a AMSC or Pan
Am Games shirt, wear it!
There are more celebrations that evening at Pier
8/Waterfront Trust in Hamilton:
The event kick off is at 4:30 pm, and then at 7 pm the official
Pan Am Games Torch Bearer Convoy arrives at Pier 8 Waterfront Trust with
Official Greetings and the cauldron being lit, entertainment by Quique
Escamilla, 2015 Juno Award winner World Music Album of the Year. (Details at http://www.hamilton.ca/attractions/2015-pan-am-games/torch-relay).
I don't think that Alex is
directly involved in the evening activities, but you might want to attend
anyway to see the cauldron lighting.
Hope to see you there!
PS Please also join us Wednesday June 24 at 7:30 pm at
"Southcote 53" for our end of season social!
